About Angela

Spiritual companioning also known as spiritual direction is about relationship.
I started going to spiritual direction almost a decade ago with the sole purpose of learning a specific prayer practice. I thought this would be my surest route to God. Inside I was yearning to develop this relationship, I desired connection. What I learned with my first spiritual director was that God delighted in me and was happy I was showing up. I was beloved. My second director taught me that discernment was not , “Do I have time to fit one more thing into my schedule but more about why to put more on my plate?” My current companion has helped me see God’s first language is silence. And my classmate from my spiritual direction program, told me I am enough. It is simple, God is love and only wants to love me. All of these relationships have helped me see and feel the simple abundance of God’s love. Putting this into daily practice is joy and it takes attention.
I’m noticing the Divine has many names and there are many practices to connect to the Divine. I like to say my idea of God was like the stars I could see from my home in the Bay Area, I saw a few and assumed that’s all there were. Now my vision of the Divine (stars) is like what one sees at Yosemite, a ton. The abundance is love.
So back to that initial start of learning that pivotal prayer to get to God…the Divine is smiling because those stars are shining in me.
Namaste.
